This is Moses Pitt's scarce issue of Jansson's map of the region north of the Sea of Azov. The map is based on the travels of Isaac Massa who visited Moscow in 1600. The land is fully engraved with forests and wild animals and tiny ships sail in the sea. Three corners of the map are decorated with large cartouches, each flanked with figures depicting royalty and the merchant class.

Good impression on fine hand laid paper with wide, original margins. Lower cartouche is a lighter impression. A few light spots, else very good. Old repaired tear in blank margin.
