A very scarce book with only two reported copies sold at auction in the last 20 years. This example is complete with all text and the original 12 plates. The book and plates describe in great detail the correct methods for creating topographical drawing, which Eastman calls "the art of representing the appearance which the surface of the earth would present to an observer situated above, and looking vertically upon every part of it." Hardbound in cloth, title, Preface, Contents, Treatise on Topographical Drawing, Appendix, 12 plates, 68 pp. The plates are examples of correctly drawn geographical and political features, and more. First edition of a remarkable and rarely seen work published by Wiley and Putman.
