A very uncommon Spanish map depicting the entire northwest coast as a mostly straight line with no hint of Alaska. The Northwest Passage is evident with a complicated river and lake system flowing to the Pacific. Hand coloring gives Spain ownership east to the Mississippi River and north to today's Canada. Table at right lists the states and territories of Spain and the United States. Four distance scales at lower left. A scarce issue.
