Uncommon birds-eye view of Charleston from Ballou's Weekly. This fine antebellum view is looking west with the Cooper River on the right. The harbor and river are filled with small sailing boats. Published in Ballou's Pictorial Drawing Room Companion a weekly illustrated newspaper that was in competition Frank Leslie's similar paper. Drawn by W.R. Miller with no engraver credited.
