Small but extremely important chart that shows the original triangulations that were the basis for all later surveying in Texas. The triangulation lines were laid down between 1848 to 1851. The accurate surveys and charts of the Coast Survey not only ensured the safety and reliability of maritime traffic, but also pioneered the modern techniques and equipment utilized by later surveys in the interior.
