Two double-page thematic maps. First, published by Johnson and Ward circa 1863, is an interesting comparative chart (23.7 x 16.5") presented with the mountains and volcanoes at right and the rivers at left. Major world cities are shown scattered across the mountains at their appropriate elevations. Second is actually two colorful thematic maps on one sheet with identical maps of the world on Mercator's Projection, with the later lacey border, circa 1870. The first map on the sheet "Johnson's World, Showing the Circulation of the Winds" details the winds around the world. The second, "Johnson's World, Showing the Distribution of the Rain" details the various rain types around the world.
