This set of steel engraved celestial charts was produced by Mr. W. Newton from the catalogue of the Astronomical Society. They use the Gnomonic Projection and include all the stars up to the sixth magnitude, or those that can been seen with the naked eye. The constellations are shown in allegorical form and are beautifully hand-colored. An extremely fine example of these beautiful celestial charts. Design for the constellations by W. Clarke and engraved by J & C Walker.
