Pair of interesting copper engravings depicting scenes of early explorers in the New World and the strange people and creatures they encountered. First is an image of Cavendish hunting sea lions while a group of natives attack them. The second shows Amerigo Vespuccci on coast of Venezuela negotiating the purchase of large iguanas, which bear a striking resemblance to the dragons of medieval myth. Both on full sheets of text; first Latin, second German.
