This copper engraving depicts the great sea battle fought between the Spanish and the Dutch in 1573. This was an important battle in the 80-Years War in which the Count of Bossu (Spanish) was captured by the Dutch. Fabulous scene with various types of ships engaged in a fierce battle. In the foreground is a scene of two row boats filled with men in hand-to-hand combat.
