Lot of seven maps from the first half of the nineteenth century. Set includes: 1) "North America" anon., circa 1818, full color (14.5 x 14.5") rough right margin and tear and spot in border (B). The paper has the watermark for J Whatman, 1818. A very uncommon map. 2) "Nord America mit Westindien" by Heinrich Kiepert, Weimer, 1853, outline color (17.5 x 23") (A). 3) "North America" by Keith Johnston, London, circa 1861, outline color (17.5 x 22") a few spots (B). 4) "Carte de L'Amerique Septentrionale" by M. Lapie, Paris, 1842, outline color (15.5 x 21") (A). Appears to locate the Independent Republic of Texas. 5) "Johnson's North America" by Johnson and Ward, circa 1861, full color (16.5 x 21.5") overall very good with a few spots (A). 6) "Carte De l'Amerique Septentrionale" by M. Lapie, Paris 1854, outline color (15.5 x 21") marginal toning and a few tears well away from map border (A). 7) "Map of North America" by Thomas, Cowperthwait & Co., Philadelphia, 1850, full color (12.5 x 15.5") map image has two spots and one corner torn away just touching neatline (B).
