Terrific pocket map of California and Nevada with the western parts of Utah and Arizona extending to Salt Lake City and Prescott. It includes incredible detail particularly in the mining regions with a large number of camps and towns named. Also shows railroads, current and proposed, and hundreds of towns, springs, forts, etc. Fancy, Victorian-style titling and very decorative wide border. The map was printed on fine banknote style paper and folds into original gilt embossed cloth covers. Original paper on inside pastedown lists maps and guides available from Bancroft with pricing (this map originally cost only $1.50). A scarce map that is in remarkable condition.
