This fine, uncommon chart was engraved by Aaron Arrowsmith. It is filled with an abundance of geographical information including mountains, rivers, towns and roads. It is a very early lithographic print that was published by James and Luke G. Hansard & Sons. The island was discovered by the Portuguese in 1505, the first settlement was established by the French in 1721, and it became a British colony some eighty years later in 1810.
