This charming small map features a huge island of California with an indented coastline and the place names R. d' Estate, C. Blanca, P. de Careened, Canal de S. Barbie, I. de S. Martin, I. de S. Mare, B. de S. Francisco, D. de Simon, B.S. Christoue and Piemabe. The original color shows the British Colonies contained to New England and north of Chesapeake Bay and the Spanish colony of La Floride taking up a huge region including Virginia and Carolina, which are named and delineated. A quaint title cartouche features a crocodile, serpent and natives tending a fire.
