1) Map of the United States Exhibiting the Military Depts. & Posts 1860, Bien, New York, 1860. Lovely hand coloring, which is unusual for a Bien map. Locates the military departments of Oregon, Utah, California, New Mexico, Texas, of the West, and of the East. Locates forts, watershed and major mountains through hachure. (19.8 x 12.8")
2) Statistical Map of the United States of America. Bowen & Co. Lith., Philadelphia, 1864. Black and white map shows alternate railroad routes to the Pacific, under construction and proposed, the new territorial boundaries (but Wyoming is still part of Dakota) and the Black Hills Gold Region. Wheat calls this primarily a railroad map and provides a full page illustration. (19.8 x 14.8")
