Pair of views of New York in the middle of the nineteenth century published by Henry Hoff. In Harry T. Peters "America on Stone," there is little information about Hoff other than that he was in business in 1850. He is best remembered for producing this set of twenty views of New York. Peters states that this set is "high class, scarce, and of considerable importance." The views are fine quality aquatints after paintings by C. Autenrieth, finished with hand color and gum arabic, and mounted onto cardstock printed with a gold picture-frame style border.
