Nice map depicting Mexico and the region recently acquired by the United States in the Mexican/American War. The map features a pre-Gadsden Purchase border between Mexico and the United States. Gives good detail of the Californian missions and early forts throughout the Southwest. Fine details throughout the Southwest and Texas. Inset map of Central America. Finely engraved by Sidney Hall. Many of Black's maps from this period combine some printed color with hand coloring. This example appears to be fully hand colored.
