A collection of four essays covering the history of cartography of the Southwest; the French and Spanish discoveries of the 16th & 17th centuries, 18th century English geography by Herman Moll, U.S. Army Mapping 1848-1850, and American Atlases of the Southwest in the 19th century. Well illustrated, with 22 b/w and 7 color plates with a scholarly appendix, 83 pp. First edition, second printing. Hard bound, illustrated dust jacket with plastic cover.. An important reference on the mapping of Texas.

2) Exploration and Mapping of the American West Selected Essays, Edited by Donna P. Koepp, Occasional Paper No. 1, Speculum Orbis Press, Chicago, 1986, 6 x 9.3". In the first of a series by the Map and Geography Round Table of the American Library Association, eight authors chronicle the cartographic history of the area. 182 pp, 28 black and white illustrations, hardbound in blue buckram. An important pair of references on the exploration and mapping of Texas and the West.
