This is a miniature version of Ortelius' modern map of the Holy Land. Unlike the folio version, this map is oriented with west at top, instead of east. It shows the path of the Children of Israel through the wilderness and a few major cities. The map is from the third epitome of Abraham Ortelius' Theatrum. The maps in this edition were copied from Phillip Galle's final edition of 1598 but were drawn and engraved by Ambrose and Ferdinand Arsenius with wide borders with latitude and longitude shown. Italian text on verso.
