This pair of very detailed views portrays Samboupo on the island of Celebes (Sulawesi) in today's Indonesia. The first (14 x 10") is a bird's-eye perspective of the city with great detail including the fort and hundreds of individual houses and buildings. The foreground is filled with numerous sailing ships and local boats. Below the map is an extensive key in Dutch that locates and describes 16 places and buildings. The second view (14.3 x 10.7") shows the town from a lower angle. Again, sailing ships and various local craft fill the foreground, the fortifications and buildings along the coast are illustrated.
