This is Volume II of two, which includes maps covering Asia, Africa, America, Australasia, and Polynesia by Thomas Myers, LL.D. of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. It contains 28 full-page or larger folding maps, and 31 full-page plates including views of Sydney, Havana, Philadelphia, and Rio de Janeiro. The United States map extends to beyond the Mississippi. The frontispiece is a fine, double-page world map in hemispheres. The map of North America shows Mexico in control of California, Texas and the entire Southwest, while the U.S. stretches to the Pacific in the Northwest as Louisiana Territory. The very colorful Spanish Dominions map shows an unnamed area roughly shaped like Texas with the R. Colorado de Texas flowing to the Gulf and the southern part named Potosi Province. A small New Mexico lies to the west of the unnamed Texas. The majority of the Southwest is unnamed with an area north of the Rio Gila labeled Unknown Parts. Each map is well engraved and with full, original hand coloring. The engraved views are all uncolored, as issued. Hardbound in marbled paper with quarter leather. Contains frontispiece (double page world map), title, Contents, Influence of Missionary Establishments on the Advancement of Geography, text, maps and plates, Addenda, Index, 941pp. An uncommon and complete geography that will shine with a little attention to the binding.

Maps are generally very good, with some being only good due to occasional foxing. Covers are very rubbed, worn and abraded with additional cracking to leather spine.
