The title of this early map of the park continues, "Compiled from the Official Explorations & Surveys of the Superintendent of the Park and other authentic sources under the direction of the Secretary of the Interior." This is a terrific map of the park that contains a large amount of information. Locates the Upper, Shoshone, Gibbon, and Heart Lake Geyser Basins, Mud Geysers, Mammoth Hot Springs, and much more. It shows geysers and hot springs in red and planned hotel sites (12 in all) marked with large green stars. Topography indicated through hachure. This map provides an early look at Yellowstone and the government plans for its development.
