This a stunning and unusual map made by Bryan Edwards, a Jamaican planter and politician, for this 1793 publication describing the West Indies. The map is printed on two joined sheets, and it shows in extensive detail the area from the southern tip of Florida through the Yucatan and Honduran coasts (here called Moskitos Shore) to the northern coast of South America. The Windward and Leeward Islands are shown in minute detail as well as Barbados, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Dominico, and Jamaica.

This a is very crisp copper engraving. The map is backed with Japanese tissue to close two tears; one on the bottom coming in about 4" into map and one on the left coming into the map about 9.5". Still a nice map.
