Pair of elaborately decorated maps focusing on the tip of South America with the Strait of Magellan and Le Maire Strait. The larger map (21 x 16.2") is by Willem Blaeu, circa 1635 and the smaller map (14 x 11.5") is by Arnoldus Montanus, circa 1671. Montanus' map is based on Blaeu's cartography but is more decorative with the addition of several strange creatures filling the interior, some of which are being stalked by hunters, and more elaborate cartouches.

Both are fine impressions. The Blaeu is toned with damaged blank margins including dark glue residue at paper edges, overall good. The Montanus is near fine, with narrow top margin, as issued.
