Unusual group of attractive copper engravings illustrating geometry, mapmaking and other mathematical instructions. The use of lovely little views and interesting arrangements adds to the charm of this final work by Alain Manesson Mallet. Mallet was born in 1630, and he worked as a French Army engineer early on. In 1671, he published Les Travaux de Mars, ou art de la Guerre avec un ample detail de la milice de Turcs, in 1683 Mallet published his atlas, Description de l’ Univers. He completed and published the treatise on mathematics La Geometrie Pratique in 1702, prior to his death in 1706.
