This fine map centered on Namur is richly embellished with forests, cities, mountains. The manuscript map drawn by Jacques Surhon in 1555 was suppressed for security reasons. In 1579, when Antwerp was independent for a brief period Ortelius published the map. Elaborate cartouches surround the title, compass rose and privilege imprint. Latin text on verso.
