An interesting sheet that details the European Colonial possessions throughout the Americas. The map is surrounded by French text describing the history of colonization and exploration in the New World. The routes of Columbus, Cortez, and Pizarro are shown, and the new discoveries of Vancouver, Mackenzie and Hearn are noted in the Pacific Northwest and Arctic. The Route of Lewis and Clark is prominently depicted. The United States is shown with its northern border into British Canada. However, the Oregon Territory is left uncolored showing neither Britain's nor the United States' claims in the region.
