This lot consists of three pocket maps in English from the early 20th Century.
1) Map of Yokohama, circa 1915. Brightly colored map advertising "Brett's Pharmacy… the largest foreign-staffed dispensary in Japan" with inset map of the vicinity of Yokohama and an index to consulates and important places. Folds into printed wrappers "With compliments of Brett's Pharmacies." (18 x12.6") This interesting map is currently offered by a dealer of rare oriental books for over $400.
2) Map and Guide of Kyoto and Environs. Japan Tourist Bureau, circa1915. Index in Japanese and English. Folds into especially handsome pictorial wrappers with a full color illustration of a geisha and 20 pp text. (11.5 x 12")
3) Japan and South Manchuria Railway and Steamer Connections, circa 1925 (mentions the 1923 earthquake). Maps includes Korea, coastal mainland and an inset of Taiwan. Surrounded by photo views of cities and sites. Folds into colorful pictorial self wrappers with text on verso. The image on the cover is after a Hiroshigei wood block. (13.3 x 9.2")

Condition: A

The first is very good with strong impression and color and a clean split where mounted on cover. The second map is printed on very fine mulberry paper and is fine. The back cover has abrasions with slight loss. The last map is very good with no flaws.
