This is the second expanded edition of this interesting report compiled by Rear Admiral CH Davidson relating to the search for a location suitable for a canal between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Contains 37 pages of text and 14 very detailed maps of Central America and northern Columbia. Some of the important maps include #6 Panama Rail Road, #7 Map and Profile of the Route for the Construction of a Ship Canal Between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, #9 Map of Part of the Isthmus of Darien and #14 Descripcion de la Provincia del Darein… This last map is a copy of a Spanish map prepared by Governor Don Andres de Ariza in 1781. The map covers the isthmus of Panama in detail and is accompanied by a report by Governor de Ariza. This map, which is hand colored, and the accompanying report were amended to this second edition. Complete. 8vo.
