This sheet contains both a plan of the Chinese capital and a view of Tientsin. It was issued at the conclusion of the Second Opium War. In 1860, at the Convention of Peking, China ratified the Treaty of Tientsin, ending the war, and granting a number of privileges to British subjects within China. The plan of the city is extremely detailed with a key to the important sites.
