This interesting map is Sheet 1 of a 2-sheet map showing all the important Islamic architecture in Cairo. Published by the Survey of Egypt, this map is the culmination of the work started by Pierre Grand Bey, an active member of the Comité de Conservation des Monuments de l’Art Arabe, in 1874 for Khedive Isma‘il. The color-coding assigns a different color to each historical era. Backed with original linen and folding into boards, (8.5 x 12.3").
