The first part of this lot is three atlases by C.S. Hammond. All size as noted above and all starting with the title "Auto Route Distance Atlas." The first continues "of New Jersey, New York and New England," dated 1925. The next one continues "of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware," and is dated 1924. The third in this series is "of New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania (eastern - central), Maryland and Delaware," dated 1927 and called the "New Edition." Each with colorful deco style pictorial cover of a touring scene and with advertising indicating they were giveaways from a bank or newspaper. The 1927 edition shows, for the first time, the new US Highways numbering system. Each is folio, with about 14 pp.
The last highway atlas is "Cities Service Atlas of Road Maps," Cities Service Oils, Philadelphia, circa 1930, 9" x 12.7". Pictorial covers and "Junior Auto Trails" maps of the Northeast by Rand, McNally & Co. which include the U.S. Highway system plus state roads. Full page advertisement on back cover for Cities Service Oils and Koolmotor gasoline. Lot of four early automobile advertising atlases.

The covers on the 1925 and 1927 are bright and in very good condition, the 1924 cover is a little tattered with some loss at left (binding) edge. The 1927 cover is detached. The cover of the fourth atlas is a little soiled and with some tears at lower right corner, but near very good condition. The maps vary good to fine.
