Map folds into stiff printed wrappers (2.4 x 5.4") with extensive ads for Matthews-Northrup products. The map is beautifully printed in four colors. All streets and parks are named. The key names and locates 71 important buildings. Good detail of numerous railroads and the extensive street car network. The index on verso lists Depots, Prominent Hotels, Places of Amusement (oddly, Congress is not listed), all streets, and more. The red printed covers are titled "The Matthews' Northrup Up-to-Date Washington Indexed Vest-Pocket Series Published by W.H. Lowdermilk & Co." Lowdermilk & Co. was a venerable Washington antiquarian bookseller. An fine example that appears as new.
