Attractive pair of 18th century maps of South America.

1) Amerique Meridionale. Copper engraved map of the continent with good detail of topography, native tribes, and European settlements. The directions of the trade winds are shown in the oceans. Published in Raynal's Atlas de Toutes les Parties Connues du Globe Terrestre, c. 1780. Hand colored. (7.9 x 12.3)
2) Amerique Meridionale Par M. Bonne. Attractive map of South America, with simplified river systems for the Amazon and La Plata Rivers and some topographical detail. Published in Atlas Encyclopedique, Vol. I, , circa 1788. Uncolored as issued. (9.2 x 13.5)

Condition: A

The first map has attractive, later color with some minor offsetting. Hinge remnants at top and small ink stamp in the shape of a horseshoe on verso. Map 2 is bright and clean with light offsetting and abrasions.
