This map has impressive detail and is highlighted by an exquisite uncolored title cartouche with Neptune, mermaids and cherubs. A large inset of Brazil plus engravings of the Portuguese fleet help to make this an outstanding map.

Condition: B

Strong, original hand coloring, full margins. Cartouche uncolored as issued. Strong impression throughout the map except for the Portuguese fleet, which is quite weak and almost appears as though the plate was being readied for reengraving in this area. Some minor staining below Portugal, else very good.
