A pair of lovely small maps of Asia, each adorned with a decorative cartouche.
1) Tartaria sive Magni Chami Imperium is a charming map of the northern portion of Asia; Russia south to Iran and Armenia and east to China, showing the Great Wall. The map is decorated with a pictorial cartouche featuring a Mongol and a pine tree.
2) Sophorum Regnum is a beautifully engraved map of the Persian Empire covering the region from the Caucasus to India with part of the Arabian Peninsula. There is nice detail of hundreds of tiny villages. A strapwork cartouche encloses the title.
