This is a very handsome map of Africa with the typical features of the early eighteenth century. The source of the Nile is shown quite well for the period. However, remnants of the Ptolemaic twin lakes that were considered the Nile source are present, now no longer attached to the Nile with the Zebee River flowing into them. The title cartouche is particularly nice with pyramids, a Moorish soldier, river god, native with elephant tusks, lion, serpent, elephant and dragon.

Sharp impression printed on paper with a nice watermark with some irregular toning. One tear on the left enters the map about 1.5 inches, repaired on the verso with archival tissue. The top margin is frayed with some short tears, not entering map.
