Dramatic sea chart printed on two joined sheets of the coast of equatorial Gulf of Guinea from Limbe to Port-Gentil, including the islands of Bioko (Fernando de Poo), Sao Tome and Principe. The right portion of the chart shows the coastal profiles of those islands as well as St. Helena and Ascension Island. The map is decorated with rhumb lines, a compass rose, ship, and a fabulous cartouche featuring natives, monkeys, parrots and a sea turtle. The scale of miles cartouche has a pair of Europeans draped over it while mermen and a seahorse frolic in the distance.

Lovely color and impression on the double-thick sheets typical for sea charts. The left margin is close as issued, and there is a light stain in the top of the map. Hinge remnants on verso.
