Beautiful sea chart of the South African coastal area of the Congo River inlet south to Cape Negro (Ponta da Marca). The map is printed on two joined sheets. The right side of the map is filled with coastal profiles of Angola and the Cape of Good Hope. The decorative cartouche features a pair of native Africans about to dispatch a bull with their spears, while the scale of miles cartouche features another native having a serious discussion with Neptune. The map is further adorned with rhumb lines, a perfect compass rose, sailing ship and a sea monster.

Superb impression and color printed on the double-thick paper typical for sea charts. The left margin has a repaired tear and some light soil barely affecting image.
