This very popular Victorian miniature atlas includes 41 single-page maps with the key to each on a separate facing page. A beautiful steel engraved title page features a small, hand colored globe at center, and is followed by the preface, table of contents and 96 plates, all with original hand coloring. This example is completed by a Compendius Universal Gazeteer which lists descriptions and interesting facts of the places shown in the atlas. 18 mo. Complete. Hardbound in original green cloth with decorative embossing on front and back covers. Gilt title on spine.

Text and maps very good to fine. Front cover separated with usual shelf wear to edges and bumping to corners. Binding needs minor repair, but the atlas as a whole is very good.
