1) Old Decorative Maps and Charts by Arthur L. Humpreys, Halton & Truscott Smith Ltd., London, 1926, First Limited Edition #128/1500. An excellent and sought after reference compiled from maps in the MacPherson Collection, one of the finest collections in existence. Seventy-nine maps are reproduced, including 18 full-color (1 folding) tipped in, and a catalogue of atlases 1482-1776. 4to, hardbound in gilt embossed, red cloth board (10.3 x 12.5"). Very good to near fine condition apart from a bit of fading on spine and light foxing on endpapers. 2) Bel et Utile: The Work of the Robert de Vaugondy Family of Mapmakers, by Mary Sponberg Pedley, Map Collector Publications, 1992, Limited Edition #76/750. An important and scholarly work that is the best published biography of the Robert de Vaugondy family and an important resource with a complete carto-bibliography of the maps published by this important family of French cartographers. Hardbound in green cloth with gilt stamped spine, 251 pp, including 8 color and 82 b/w illustrations, illustrated dust jacket (9.5 x 12"). A fine example of this desirable reference work.
