This is a terrific railroad map and timetable brochure, dated November 18, 1894. The map is beautifully printed with varying shades of blue-green in the background and is reminiscent of a Japanese woodblock print from the same period. It details the northeastern states, extending south to Annapolis and into the Midwest to include the Great Lakes and westward to locate Minneapolis, St. Louis, and the Mississippi River. Drawn in a semi-birds-eye view makes this a very attractive map. Titling is in very fancy Victorian lettering. At lower right is an engraved view of Grand Central Station where "All Through Trains Arrive at and Depart from…" Another engraving touts the route's safety with a view of a "Block Signal." The "Fastest Train in the World" is "Equipped with the New and Elegant Sleeping, Drawing-Room and Dining Cars of the Wagner Palace Car Company." The twenty panel timetable self folds into pictorial covers (4" x 8") with engravings of the Highlands of the Hudson River, Niagara Falls, and Grand Central Station, calling itself "America's Greatest Railroad."
