This boldly engraved copper plate plan is uncommon and seldom offered. It shows the forts and citadel in remarkable detail. English title above upper neatline reads "Exact Plan of the Town Port & Citadel of Calais..." There are several large ships sailing off into the horizon, and a compass rose with fleur-de-lys and rhumb lines nicely complete the composition. Engraved by R. Benning. Published by Oakley at Golding Square.
