This interesting map is sheet number 8 from Henry Popple's famous and scarce 20-sheet map of the British Empire in America. This sheet is focused on a portion of the Grand Banks, and inset with maps of the harbors of Placentia (Newfoundland), Boston (Massachusetts), and Annapolis Royal (Nova Scotia). The sheet shows soundings in the Grand Banks and harbors of all the insets except Placentia, and there are numerous placenames noted. An uncommon portion of the very first large-scale map of North America.

A sharp impression with original color. The bottom margin has a few short tears, not affecting the map. The top margin is slightly toned, just coming into the map.
