A scarce map of St. Croix shows plantations and topography with a symbol to indicate sugarmills (zuckermuhle). It is from C. G. A. Oldendorp's Geschichte der Mission der Evangelischen Bruder auf den Caraibischen Inseln S. Thomas, S. Croix und S. Jan, (History of the Evangelical Brethren on the Caribbean Islands of St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John). Oldendorp was a Moravian minister who visited the islands to document the progress of the missions located there. The map is titled in a delicately engraved cartouche and oriented with a simple compass rose.
