1) Point a Pitre Guadeloupe West Indies is a large and rarely seen fire insurance plan presented on a scale of 120 feet to one inch. It has a key at the right explaining which buildings are properly constructed and which are "poor and probably uninsurable." Hospitals, stores, schools, banks, post offices, memorials and streets are named. Dated March 1897 by Chas. E. Goad Civil Engineer Montreal & Toronto, Canada. A most uncommon issue. (20.5 x 24"). Grade B with pleasant age toning and some damp staining.
2) L'Incendie de la Point-a-Pitre was published as an incentive for purchasing fire insurance. This example has a pair of views, one before and one after a devastating fire in Pointe-a-Pitre. From Journal Universel, Paris, 1871. (19 x 12.5"). Grade B+ with some soiling in margins, a repair on centerfold, and creases in upper left corner. Hinge remnants on verso.
