This attractive chart is plate no. 1 from Barbie du Bocage's well known atlas showing numerous diagrams that explain astronomy, weather, the seasons of the year, etc. Featured at center is a beautifully engraved armillary sphere that is flanked on both sides by diagrams of the Ptolemaic System, and the Planetary System. Four small vignettes along the bottom show examples of natural phenomena such as erupting volcanoes, avalanches, etc. A small map of no place in particular is used as a key to geographic symbols and terms.
