This decorative map covers from Assyria to the Mediterranean Sea and shows the route taken by Abraham from Ur to Haran, showing the cities of Bales and Niniveh as well. The vignettes show Adam and Eve in Paradise with Eve being offered the apple, and a second depicts their expulsion from Eden. A re-engraved version of Nicholas Visscher's map of 1648, with a young fisherman above the cartouche and a note that Theodor Falckeyen created the map. German text on verso.
References: cf Laor #794; cf Poortman & Augusteijn #119.
Condition: A
An excellent impression on a sheet with minor show through of text on the verso. The lower right corner has a faint smudge from handling, just touching the map.
