Three attractive copper engravings from Scheuchzer's Copper Bible, which described the physical world in the context of the Bible.
Tab. DCCVI is a scene from Matthew, Cap. XXVI. v.45, and is titled Eclipsis passionalis [8" x 12.5"].
Tab. CCCCLXIII is from I. Kings, X V.11.12 and is titled Pseudosantalum, Ebenus, Rhod. Lignum. [7.2" x 12.1"].
And the last, Tab. LXXXVII is from Genesis Cap. XXVIII.v.18.19 and is titled Lapis Bethelis.
Scheuchzer, the father of paleontology, is famous for his fossil collection, his systematic exploration of the Alps and his numerous publications on geology, geophysics and natural sciences.
