This uncommon atlas contains 17 double-page and 81 single-page, wax engraved maps by George Cram, published by the Fort Dearborn Publishing Company. Among the maps are 15 city plans including New Orleans, Washington, D.C. and Canton, China. Many of the maps contain insets and several have population statistics or other references printed in the margins and blank areas. All the maps are highly detailed and informative showing topography, roads, railroads, counties, provinces, rivers and much more. An interesting chronology of "Ancient, Medieval and Modern History" begins with the year 4004 B.C., and continues to 1896 A.D. This handsome atlas features numerous tables, charts, diagrams and many beautiful engravings interspersed throughout its pages. 418 pages. Complete. Small folio. Hardbound in original green cloth with an embossed, silver title on the front.

Condition: A
Contents generally very good with just some toning. One page of text has a 3" tear from the lower edge. Covers are a bit soiled, and corners are lightly bumped. Spine is good with a small amount of loss at the extremities. Hinges are starting. Binding is sound.
