This is a meticulously engraved plan of Alkmaar from Blaeu's town book of the Netherlands. The fortified medieval city is filled with buildings, canals and trees, and the surrounding countryside is a pastoral quilt of farms and wandering livestock. A numbered key at the lower right locates 103 points of interest within the town. Latin text on verso.

A superb impression on a sturdy sheet that has some irregular toning. The lower margin has a fold along its length, not affecting the map.
